Brazil’s Gabriel Medina solidifies his no.1 spot on the men’s leaderboard after claiming his second CT win of the season. Medina's win came after defeating fellow Brazilian Italo Ferreira in the semifinal with a heat score of 13.70 to 7.17, and CT rookie Morgan Cibilic in the final with 15.50 to 7.87.

“That was amazing. I had so much fun at this event. It’s been my best year so far. I’m so happy,” Medina told the WSL broadcast after the event.

For Cibilic the result sends him all the way up from 11th to 5th on the WSL Leaderboard. The top five surfers will qualify for the WSL Finals in Lower Trestles, California, where they will battle it out for the world title.

In the women’s event, Australia's Sally Fitzgibbons took her first CT win since the 2019 Oi Rio Pro. Fitzgibbons reached the final by defeating Tyler Wright in a very one-sided semifinal. In the final Fitzgibbons beat France’s Johanne Defay with 15.24 to 11.23. The win moves Fitzgibbons into no.2 on the women’s leaderboard and in contention for the WSL Final.
