STREET WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS AND RECAP

After yet another weekend full of amazing skateboarding. The 2021 Street World Championships is over is, here is what went down:

MEN’S

In the men’s event, Japan’s Yuto Horigome claimed victory with the world no.1 Nyjah Huston of the United States in second and fellow Japanese Sora Shirai in third. All three medallists secured a spot for Tokyo 2020.

Japan’s Aoki Yukito, who failed to reach the finals, will accompany Yuto and Shirai to Tokyo 2020 on the basis of his world ranking. Jake Ilardi and Jagger Eaton of the United States also secured spots for Tokyo 2020 and will be joining Nyjah on Team USA.

Canada’s Mikey Papa and Brazil’s Felipe Gustavo also managed to secure spots on their respective teams.

WOMEN’S STREET

Aori Nishimura took first in the women’s event ahead of compatriot Momij Nishiya in second and Brazil’s Rayssa Leal in third.

Funa Nakayama were also able to secure an Olympic spot and will be representing Japan together with Aori Nishimura and Momij NIshiya.

The world no.1 Pamela Rosa and veteran Leticia Bufoni will join Rayssa Leal on the Brazilian Olympic team.

Even though Pamela Rosa missed the podium, she will still have to be considered the big favorite for Tokyo 2020 followed by Aori and Rayssa.
