UPRISING TOKYO

Rakuten Sports has announced the launch of Uprising Tokyo, a brand-new international event in the Japanese capital.

Joining forces with professional skateboarder and Rakuten partner, Yuto Horigome, this inaugural edition will be held at Ariake Arena from May 26-28 and promises to bring together some of the best skaters from around the globe.

Yuto Horigome had this to say about the new event, saying, "I'm thrilled to see the growth of skateboarding culture both in Japan and around the world through Uprising Tokyo. It's my hope that this event will introduce many new fans to the sport that has changed my life."

Koji Ando, Rakuten Group Managing Executive Officer and Vice President of Rakuten's Global Sports Business added, "Skateboarding's popularity has seen a rapid rise in recent years and holds immense potential for further growth. With Uprising Tokyo, we aim to bring the excitement of international skateboarding to Tokyo and beyond. We've been working on this project since launching our partnership with Yuto in April 2022, and we're honored to join forces with such a talented athlete to expand the sport in Japan and globally."
