2024 SLS SAN DIEGO PREDICTIONS

2024 SLS SAN DIEGO PREDICTIONS

The second stop of the 2024 SLS Championship Tour will take place at the Viejas Arena in San Diego on Saturday, April 20, and will be free to watch on Rumble.

Our longshot for SLS Paris, Aurelien Giroud, was finally able to keep it together and claim a well-deserved first SLS win in his home country at the 2024 SLS Championship Tour season opener. In the final, Giroud came out swinging, earning a 9.0 score for his first run. The Frenchman then followed it up in Best Trick with two nine club scores on his first two tricks before putting the nail in the coffin with a backside 360 over the kicker to gap on his fourth.

Will Aurelien be able to repeat, or will Nyjah Huston secure his first SLS win since SLS Lake Havasu back in 2021? Let’s dive into our picks and predictions for the second stop on the 2024 SLS Championship Tour.

FAVORITES
Yuto Horigome
Odds:
TBD

At the top of the list, we find Yuto Horigome, who missed the season opener in Paris, but is coming off a win at Tampa Pro. He also walked away with the win at the first-ever SLS Apex event back in March. Yuto is always a threat due to his consistency and unique bag of tricks. We have said it before: Yuto in top form is very hard to beat, which shows on the betting sites that have him as a favorite for this event.

Giovanni Vianna
Odds:
TBD

Our second pick for SLS San Diego is the defending SLS Super Crown Champion, Giovanni Vianna. Since his Super Crown win last year, Giovanni has continued to improve and is just getting better and better. In my humble opinion, it is only a matter of time before Giovanni wins another SLS event, and with the way he is skating at the moment, it can very well happen in San Diego.

Nyjah Huston
Odds:
TBD

Rounding out our list of favorites is Nyjah Huston. Even though Nyjah hasn’t won an SLS event since SLS Lake Havasu back in 2021, and he missed a tre flip in Paris, it is impossible to leave Nyjah off this list. Nyjah has made an amazing comeback after his injury. In Paris, he got yet another third-place finish to add to his three from last year. To say that he is due for a win is an understatement.

SLEEPERS
Vincent Milou
Odds:
TBD

We have said it before: Vincent knows how to put together a run that scores well, and he has the individual tricks to land him in the nine club. The Frenchman has been on an upward trajectory since his injury last year, reaching the final in Paris. If he can make it through the knock-out round, anything is possible, and backing Vincent could lead to a nice payday.

Gustavo Ribeiro
Odds:
TBD

Gustavo was struggling throughout last season but seems to be back to his normal consistent hi-tech self. Ribeiro put down an impressive performance in Paris for second place and if he can stay out of his own way, he might very well make it to the top of the podium at SLS San Diego on Saturday.

LONGSHOT
Chris Joslin
Odds:
TBD

As our longshot for SLS San Diego, we have Chris Joslin. On a good day, Chris Joslin is almost unstoppable and is no doubt one of the most exciting skaters to watch. The fact that Joslin is an underdog and that the San Diego course could cater to his big tricks makes him the perfect longshot for the second stop of the 2024 SLS Championship Tour.
